Whale & Dolphin Watching could be an incredible experience for all, adults and children's. The observation of these magnificent marine mammals in they natural habitat are a moment that stays forever in our memory. The waters in Madeira Island are very rich in cetaceans: marine mammals that live exclusively in an aquatic habitat, like the whales and dolphins.
There are 29 species described for Madeira (about 35% of the species decribed worldwide)
In our programmes there are many chances to experience this encounters. Although the fact we guarantee cetaceans sightings, the observations depends of the season and are according the different species, their migrations and their route by Madeira archipelago. Onboard, our experienced friendly guide will provide good and safe observations, helping you with any uncertainty in the identification. Whale & Dolphin Watching Tour
This is a unique experience to watch whales and dolphins in Madeira Islands. These 2,5 hours tours starts in our base, at Marina do Funchal, where our team will do an educational briefing about the occurrence of whales and dolphins in Madeira, including also all the information about the tour and safety rules. These trips count with the help of lookouts from land, which elevates the chances to see the maximum species per trip. Sightings can vary between 1 and 7 species per trip. Depending on the season it is common to observe species of dolphins and whales like the Common Dolphin Delphinus delphis, the Atlantic Spotted Dolphin Stenella frontalis, the Bottlenose Dolphin Tursiops truncatus, the Bryde's Whale Balaenoptera edeni. Pilot Whales Globicephala macrorhynchus, and Sperm Whales Physeter macrocephalus.
Tours are made in fast, semi-riged type boats with a capacity for 12 people. With these types of boats we can assure that you get out to the dolphins and whales in the shortest possible time.

Around the Madeira’s Archipelago, it's possible to watch 6 species of dragonflies and damselflies from three different genera.
The Island Darter (Sympetrum nigrifemur) is an endemic species of Macaronesia and can exclusively be seen on Madeira and the Canarian Islands.
The Butterflies and Dragonflies walking tour takes place in the south of Madeira Island's area of the Ecological Park of Funchal which stands above 1000 meters of altitude. In this place the predominant habitats are the meadow and the mountain but also the beautifull Madeirian forest which is the perfect set for observation and photograph the different species.
The tour consists in short walks on open flowery places, some paths with flowering shrubs and along the small river which are common areas that attract the mentioned insect orders (Lepidoptera and Odonata).
